The Reason for U/V
So why a University conference?
Finishing 6th form or college, and then heading to the next stage of life is this really exciting inflection point in life. You’re not quite an adult, but you’re not a kid anymore. Even your brain is still in this place of development. But the freedom, and the opportunities that unfold during University bring people into new connections, relationships, and conversations that become such a big part of a person’s growth. And at the same time, the challenges that happen in University, academically, relationally, (or any other way), can become overwhelming, and also leave people feeling lost or alone.
Uni/Verse was born out of the university conferences that have come before it. Some graduates and young adults, really remembered the good and difficult times during their own University years, and wanted to bring some blessing to the incoming generations.
Conferences are just a small part of a students life. But they can be amazing catalysts for growth. We want Uni/Verse to be part of that exploration, so that as students have space to encounter God, they walk away changed by the truth of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We believe this can be an amazing blessing for University fellowships around the country.
U/V is organised by a team of young adults that varies, from year to year. It’s catalyst-ed by the BCEC, but very much a collaborative effort. The Small Group leaders are usually made up of different people from Asian Heritage churches from around the country who have a heart for students, want to see faith rise and to see relationships thrive.
